Josephine is a poet, fiction writer and academic who is inventing and exploring diverse hybrid forms. But really she’s writing about music and mobile phones, love and crumbling houses. She collaborates with musicians , sound artists, scriptwriters, film makers and artists to create performance works and recordings for radio broadcast, which have been featured on RRR-FM, ABC Radio National, 3CR and Highlands FM, Victoria.
She has won several awards for her short fiction and her poetry, fiction and essays have been published in various journals including Double Dialogues & In/Stead, Verandah literary magazine, and the Age.
She is currently a lecturer in Professional and Creative Writing at Deakin University, Melbourne. She has also lectured in literary studies and academic skills programs across three universities as well as working as a content writer for an online academic skills and transition website at the University of Melbourne. Recently she has been coordinating and lecturing at the Melbourne Free University in a Australian literature course offered to people seeking asylum in Australia. She is a committee member of PEN Melbourne, a branch of PEN International.
