‘I got this idea of you’ on ABC RN’s Soundproof

I got this idea of you is the final offering in the first season of the Soundproof mini-series: Bedtime Stories: Tales to Take You Into the Night, produced by John Jacobs. It was written and read by poet, fiction writer and spoken word performer, Josephine Scicluna.

Josephine says ‘In writing this for Bedtime Stories I got interested in that space before we go to sleep – how the mind becomes more active when we hit the pillow and so the speaker’s thoughts start happy enough, then a dark thought takes hold and she starts imagining her lover leaving her. But like running into your parents’ bed after a bad dream, the lover’s voice here reassures her and tries to arrest her thoughts. I think even as adults we need that – someone to tell us everything will be okay so we can drop off to sleep –even though we know it isn’t necessarily going to be.’
