Listen to ‘Conversation in an air raid shelter’
Featuring the musical compositional techniques of phase, repetition
and pulse, with sounds of New York recorded from a 16th floor hotel
window, this sonic poem by Tom Kazas and Josephine Scicluna is a plea
for the intimately spoken word. As cockatoos rise in the white siren
sky, two lovers confront love, politics and time in a halting conversation
inside a placeless shelter.
Music & production by Tom Kazas, words & voice by Josephine Scicluna. Originally presented at the Double Dialogues Conference: ‘The 21st century – The Event, The Subject, The Artwork’, University of the South Pacific, Fiji, 23rd September, 2013.
